Good Friday was indeed a Good Friday

A large part of the crew went out riding. Dan had some bike issues so we had to leave the fast kid behind. Doug from my job went out with us and considering he quit the last time out he did very well this time on THE LOOP. I had the helmet cam on looking to get some mistakes that I could use at work to ridicule and tease the co-worker but to my disappointment he rode good and no video worth free lunches ever materialized. Here's a video of part The Loop

Sunday was Easter and a bunch of us went to Seaside then back to the house for sandwiches and a beer or two. It was a nice day and I got to take a lot of pictures so that made me happy. All said it was a few relaxing days off with family and friends.

"Relax" I really have to remember to relax. Well that’s it for now. Here's the pictures from the weekend

Round 3 Ormond Farm NEOC

Round 3 was interesting to say the least. Saturday saw horrendous rains all day long, which left the playing field unsuitable for ball play. Fortunately we don’t use a  ball in our games.

I have been practicing my second gear starts for the last two weeks in preparation for a much needed hole shot. Well as Murphy would say, I write the law and you will abide by Murphy. OK I just chocked under pressure it wasn’t Murphy’s law it was choke syndrome. So off into turn one I go in last place but I was going to redeem myself by passing as many old geezers my trusty two stroke would allow. Well I was doing some passing and by god I have the helmet cam to prove it. Then that thought gets into my head, which always leads to the next thought. The first thought is, “man am I doing good” always followed by owe crap, “this isn’t going to end good” thought. This is always with no exception followed by a major get off. Get Off is racer talk for a crash. Hopefully I won’t be using that phrase very much.
The curse was rutted and brutal to say the least and I enjoyed the hell out of competing against my peers in a race of skill and balls. I ended up 19th out of 35 riders. I can’t wait for the next one. My son Dan and all our friends did well and they also enjoyed themselves.
Dan got 8th in his class and 80th out of 140 riders in the main event. This is his best finish in the premier class so far this year.
Matt got 8th in his class and 35th out of 161 riders in the C class. I have to say Mathew is really doing well this year as anyone who enjoys himself this much should.
Rod scored a 4th out of 36 riders and also got the hole shot.
Joe once again finished another race beating 12 of his competitors in his class. Joe is going to get quicker by years end and will be destroying my lap times I’m sure.
Kenny did a lot better then his 17th finish. He is competing in the C-light class, which contains 43 riders (43 fast riders)

I’m a Racer

I started racing the NEOC harescramble series that Dan has been racing for years. All my friends that ride with me also partake in this activity and Hell, I guess peer pressure finally got to me. Actually there are many contributing factors that led me to try my skills against fellow old dudes. Now that Dan is older and I have numerous friends also attending the event the thought of being taken away in the wambulance and having a child there by himself no longer exists.

So it’s off the races I go. This is my second race this year and I must say it really was a hoot. I can say “HOOT” Because I race the over forty class and stupid sayings are your right of passage. We are all happy with the times we achieved. All happy but for different reasons.

First there is Joe  just coming off a Career ending injury (The ribs breaking and a lung collapsing) usually pushes other wives to the breaking point leaving the injured rider having to swear off such dangerous activities. Its not that a man has no more desire to ride it’s because he can’t even get up and get something out of the fridge and having to rely on his wife for even the most simple task. It’s basically comes down to you have to swear to give this crap up or mend your own ass back to health. So Joe is basically happy to finish and to come home in one piece..

Then there is Keith happy to take ownership of one of the day’s fastest laps. Contributing to his new found health in quiting those menthol stink sticks he’s so fond of.

Matt  who also has ownership of a fastest lap. Matt is just happy that his bike makes it though the whole race and he doesn’t have to spend more money then the bikes net worth replacing parts that get ripped off from the trees he’s so accustomed to bouncing into.

Rod  is happy in dominating all of his friends taking home the best results for the day. He thinks because he gets the best result that we will forget that he’s in the Crap I’m Forty Club.

Dan  continues to race in the main event against people that are actually good. His results are impressive to everyone else but himself. I guess he’s his toughest critic. He’s happy, I’m not sure at what but he’s happy.

Me  I'm happy cause it was freaking fun.
