Race Weekend

Friday was a nice relaxing night. Me and Sherrie went to the high school to watch Jessica in the half time show. She really enjoys being in the squad. Then we went and had (I know your not going to believe this) ONE DRINK at water street.
I guess that's why I was able to wake up early enough to go watch the Sunrise at the shore. It was a little cloudy but the Sun rose on time either way. It's nice when you have to depend on nobody being late to ruin your date with the sun. If she's scheduled to be there ow she's there. I think I just prepped the motorcycle for Sunday's race the rest of Saturday. I some how managed this ritual as some type of man right on race weekend.
Sunday was the best day of the week the 8th race of the year was taken place at the Cumberland Fair Grounds. We raced this venue one other time at the beginin of the season so I was comfortable as to what to expect so I thought. It turned out the race was a mud feast. I got a great start and was running second the whole infield of the race track. I was quite happy with this even know I dropped back to finish 18th out of the 36th people in the senior class. My friend from my Job Doug Zeibro also races and I beat him and that made me happy along with beating Tony. I considered the day a success.

Little ride

Friday night was spent at the South Toms River High School watching Jessica perform the half time show with the marching band. It was fun I'm proud of her and it was a social  event. I seen half a Dozen people I knew there. Which I find pretty amazing considering I go through great lengths to avoid most people. Low and behold there was people there that I actually liked to converse with.
Went for a little ride Sunday with  Dan, Tony, Rod and myself. Nothing spectacular just out for a little practise before next weeks race. Wait there is something worth commenting on. I'm putting a new tube in Dan's tire and I notice the tire is completely shot from riding the last race on a flat. Wow I need about 80 bucks for a new tire. Then my friend pulls up and hands me 100 beans he owes me. Thank you almighty motorcycle gods.

Race weekend Ormond farm #2 2011

Off to the races we go again. I'm really enjoying myself this year racing with my son Dan and all the guys Matt,Joe,Rod. Keith and Kenny on occasion and now Tony joined in on the fun as well as Bobby. The race went good I got 19th place out of 39 riders which isn't the best result I have achieved but I felt like I rode good. The most important thing and I'm not going to lie is I beat Tony :)  Today is Tuesday and I'm still very sore from the race. I guess your suppose to push it during the races. My friend Matt had a get off that resulted in him losing many positions in the last lap. He looks like he might of twisted his knee. We'll keep our fingers crossed that he'll be able to make the last two races.  Here are the numbers and the pictures.

Labor Day weekend

Went doing some dirt bike riding on Saturday and that was fun as usual. Then even know I had many opportunities to do cool stuff with my friends I elected to have a day just to chill out. I'm not very good at not having any plans. I was freaking bored out of my mind and it got worse as the day dragged on. I will never have a day with no plans. Next free day I have no chores I'm finding some buddies to go riding with.
Monday (Labor day) My Mom Dan and myself went to Monmouth park to bet on the ponies. We went up into the club house which was really cool. You sit up there have lunch and a drink and place your bets all day. A really nice time I hit a couple of races and dam near almost broke even by days end.

Irene The Hurricane of 2011

Me and Sherrie Saturday at deserted Seaside.
Yea we were suppose to get a blazing hurricane this weekend. I cancelled the trip to see a motocross race in Massachusetts Moto338 (Ronnie and Matt were the only guys to brave the storm) But that's another story all to its self.  The storm was suppose to be at its strongest around Sunday at 6.
We all made the best of a wet weekend by playing in the water and rain as much as possible. Me and Dan went up and rode the dirt bikes on the parkway because it was closed to traffic. Then me and Jessica and Dan went riding the little bikes. It was 100 % more fun then when me and Dan went out on the big bikes. I think both of us truly miss riding with Jessica and Sherrie. We use to have a blast riding and when Jessica decides to go out with us me and Dan really treasure it. It just doesn't happen as often as we both wished. The hurricane was not as exciting as I thought it was going to be. You'll see some picture on the picture link of me and the boys shooting some pool as that was the extent of our hurricane party.

Riding with all the boys

All the boys went out riding. I'm writing this about a week and a half later but I can honestly say it was a good ride with little drama. Little drama is a good thing in my world.
After I wrote this I get up to get a drink of water. I think crap my foot is still sore and swollen from my contact with the stump in the fire cuts that day I went riding with all the boys. See it's freaking always something. Life's bruises sure do heal a lot slower as the hair get thinner.

IT GONNA RAIN

Then you went weee the wooo and you landed here I seen it all

We were all scheduled to ride this Sunday at 11am. The rain came and came hard all morning long. I was texting the boys and telling everyone I was riding no matter what. Well everyone seemed to be backing out and it was just me and Dan in the garage contemplating the ride. If everyone backed out and we're the only ones left should we ride in this mess or call it a day and go play monopoly. (Humm as we both muddled something about if we even owned a board game)  Then the call comes in from Tony saying, "he's on his way and he has his rained gear". "Suit up Dan we're going riding" I tell him.
The rain seemed doable and off we went into the trail. Dan and Tony take off and as the puddle splashing commenced I knew it was going to be a different kind of ride today. The ride  was short lived as Dan hit a rock in the trail which caused a day ending crash. We picked up Dan and the YZ and limped our way back to the house to hand Dan over to his Mom for further analysis. It was determined that a emergency room visit was in order and Tony and I were giving the go to continue the ride. We rejoiced and took off. The day was filled with a lot of fun splashing and sand blasting and all went well for the rest of the afternoon. Bruised ribs was the prognosis a painful injury but the boy will ride again

HANCOCK NY DUEL SPORT

The worst funniest time I had was this weekend 8/6/2011. Yea that’s an oxymoron. Me and Keith drove his camper with a trailer in tow with our beloved motorcycles in the back. Both of us felt the need to take our KLR’s with us up to the mountains for the 13th running of the Quarry run dual sport. The big Kawasaki’s proved a good ride to go into town for pizza on Friday night but after riding the first half an hour on the dual sport Saturday we came to the quick conclusion that this was no place for our trusted over weight thumpers and our more agile husqvarna are going to be our bike of choice for this event.
The quarry run was some kind of abuse chamber that the club members seemed proud of taking us flat landers on.  Showing us what terrain real manly men ride their motorcycles on. There was up hills that were just littered with motorcycle and frustrated riders attempting the rocky climb. There was down hills that were more of a stream then a trail and every conceivable challenged they could muster up to throw our way.
Ha, who am I kidding? I had a blast and a weekend that I want to tell and brag to everyone who is willing to listen.

Keith had 4 of his friends from NYC that he knows from the road racing at NJMP meet us in Hancock NY.Two of them road just Saturday Patrick and Marko and Ilya and Demian rode both days. They all had different levels of ability and it was a blast to meet and ride with such nice people.

Tubing

Tubing down the Delaware was just what the doctor ordered to end a vacation. Jake , Teresa and their son Me and Sherrie and our two ( Jessica and Dan) The Bopp's and Katie Bopp. It was a lot of fun I have been conoeing down the Delaware before but I never just floated in a tube. It was a blast I always enjoy myself when hanging with the Bopps. You have got to love Ronnie's care free attitude. Check out all the pic's here.
My goodness over a hundred pictures for a 3 hour tubing trip LOL I am a Japanese tourist

Vacation 2011

Just got back from the family vacation. (WARNING no motorcycle will be seen here) The first day Saturday Dan and myself went fishing with some work associates. The kind of people you talk to on the phone but never see in person. Well one of these associates invited me and  Dan to go fishing. I can't even tell you how much fun we had. We fished and laughed and really had a great time. Yea, I don't want to brag but here's me winning the biggest fish caught. Here are the rest of the pictures from the fishing trip.
Sunday we awoke to start the rest of the Boyle vacation first stop was ocean city Maryland. We had a good time there. I think the funniest part was Dan almost getting arrested at the Dew Tour. He sneaks into the Dew Tour then we ( His Parents) Get a phone call saying we're (We) being the Ocean city Police are going to arrest your son. It seems he jumped into a area he wasn't suppose to be in. (Just look at the video here).
Then we're off to Williams burg, Bush Gardens, and some water park in the area. The water park was easily the funniest part of the trip. Maybe because the temperature was into the 90's might of had something to do with that. We took a bunch of pictures and video. My favorite picture of the trip has got to be me and Jessica both taking A picture of each other getting ready to take a picture.
We made a trip on the way home to Luray Caverns. I really enjoyed this part of the trip. I wish we could of all enjoyed skyline drive on the way home but looking at the mountains is something I must realize is a Jay thing. So we took the more direct route home from the caverns and was home by midnight driving strait threw.
Dan had poison Ivy through out this whole trip. Never let it ruin the trip but wow was that a case of bad poison Ivy. If your that interested here are the rest of the pictures.

My First Plaque

Last weekend 7/10/2011 was race weekend up in Berkshire NY. The ride up was a pleasant experience. Matt was in his truck and Dan and me were in our pick-up. We left around Noonish and headed up with no sense of urgency, We made a couple pit stops just to stretch and to get a cup of coffee. My type of traveling no hurries no worries.

Rod and Joe Lasko met us up there and we had a BBQ that Dan cooked. That boy can cook a steak. Then we just hung out drank a couple of cold ones and laughed for a few hours.

Check out how happy I am getting my plaque :)
Sunday was race day and it was a challenging course the NEOC set up for us. We all made it out with out any injuries or major breakdowns. Everyone did very well you can check  here for the numbers.  The high lite of the trip was I finally broke into the top ten and received a plaque. I have been 11th twice and have been becoming the butt of all plaque jokes. Well with that monkey off my back I can’t wait for the next race in Sept.

Samantha Graduated

Samantha graduated high school so there was a shin dig up in fair lawn that require my presence. I decided to make a little trip out of this opportunity and took the street bike my beloved ZRX1200 up north. My route was simple, to head west cross the Delaware river by Washington’s crossing then up route 32 which follows the Delaware river. Cross back into NJ by Easton PA / Philipsburg NJ then pick up 519 north till it runs into 521. Then I was just too mossy along taking back roads west then south until I ran into 23. From there I took 513 up to 511 till I hit a road named skyline rd. That ran into 208 then down to Fairlawn. I did about 120 miles in 6.5 hours of taking it easy snapping pictures and stopping for an amazing breakfast sandwich. Then it was just chilling out by the pool drinking a couple and staying up way to late.

Sunday morning was a commute ride down the parkway home and nothing to write home about. In fact it was miserable and next time I think I’ll not stay up so late and make it a epic ride home as well. All the pictures here

Canoeing and Motorcycle training

This was really a fun weekend. First was Jessica's dance recital. I always enjoy watching her perform. I was having camera issues and instead of missing her dance while trying to refigure the camera I said, "the hell with it" and just enjoyed the dance. Then to celebrate we went to Seaside and visited Jessica's friends Kellyann and Nichole. I really had a nice day. Sunday was Fathers day. I woke up and took my doggies for a walk in the woods. Then me and Dan decided to go Canoeing. We put our canoe in where we usually take it out ( Western Blvd.) and decided to see if we could go all the way to the bay. It was quite easily done but next time we'll take a electric motor with us and try to make it to the bay then back up the Toms River.
Monday I played hookie and Dan and I went down to Melville so he could take his motorcycle lessons from Rick Lafferty's School. That was really cool and Fun. Dan learned a lot as well as myself. We'll see if this produces and better results in our harescramble races next month.

Busy Lately

Man, I got back from my Smokey Mountain Man vacation and have not had time to write about anything. First things first the trip was a success we (Me and Tony)broke down in Virginia at 1am. Then proceeded to drink until morning light at which time we pulled the alternator out. Unloaded one of the bikes ran to NAPA bought a new one and was back on the road by 7:30 am. While down there we road all the road we enjoy Cherohala Skyway, The dragon.  I think one of the best trips was RT28 all the way into Georgia. We then spent the night partying in some town I have to remember the name. Great trip. The first weekend home a pipe burst in the bathroom flooding the house FUN at it’s finest. Here's the pictures from the Smokey's trip.

The following weekend we had a great ride and a great little party for Dans Birthday. There I'm caught up

Matt's my Mechnic Hero

What a crazy two days this weekend turned out to be. Saturday night was Jessica’s junior prom so that is why I have some pictures of my daughter all dolled up. Dan had a baseball game and I just kind of stayed home and prepped the bikes for the upcoming race this Sunday.

Sunday rolls around and off we go at 7am always to early for most of the people attending the race but hey, if something happens we have enough time. We meet up with Matt because he likes to convoy to the race in case something happens we have support in numbers. All is good we are early and both driving uneventfully to the race.

Sputter sputter click clank clunk. My truck dies just a mere 10 miles from the race. So against my better judgement we strap a tiedown from Matts truck to my truck and we’re going to pull my vehicle to the race. We’ll race, Dan will race then we’ll figure out a game plan after we RACE declares, Matt,.

So off to the races we go at a brisk flasher blinking 20 miles a hour. Across rail road tracks thru stop signs, left handed turns across on coming traffic. It was a get to the race or die trying attitude.

Rod got 3RD

All is well I’m lined up at the race waiting to take off till I hear the voice stating in a raspy piney twang, Dude, “Your motor mount bolt is about to fall out” . My god is this a sign that I shouldn’t take part in todays event. Hell no there is no way after the white knuckle tow endeavor am I going to let this missing bolt stop me. Off the line I pull out on a mission to find a bolt and tighten that baby down. I find a nut that fits from one of the people selling supplies on the race grounds. He puts it on and proceeds to break the bolt. OK do we chance the race with no engine mount bolt. That would just be stupid to ride now. What the hell am I suppose to do tell Matt after he towed me to the race that I didn’t race when there was two out of three perfectly good bolts holding the engine to the frame. Hell no this is really turning into a fly by the seam of your pants type of day.

After the race we all head back to the truck with the usual stories and tales of  "if I only didn’t fall" "if I only didn’t crash" "if I only weeved when I woobled I would be a star today". So I’m off to be the pit guy for Danny’s race while the other loose nuts go about determining the cause and expence of my limp truck predicament. It turns out the fuel pump has gone south and a new one is required. Well this envolves dropping the gas tank because this is where the car manufactures deemed it best to put a replaceable part such as a pump. As I explain to Matt the pros and cons of dropping the gas tank in the parking lot and the fact that I’ll just have the vehicle towed and repaired like normal two income white people do. He assures me this decision is indeed the correct one while we’s on his way to the parts store to buy a new one and replace the dam thing in the parking lot. . So it’s 6:30 pm hell there’s still people loading up bikes on their trailors and we’re off with a new fuel pump replaced in the parking lot of some lonely places dipped Coyota track race 5 of the 2011 NEOC season. My hat goes off to these fine people I am proud to call friends and race buddies. Matt, Joe Kline, Rod, and Ronnie Bopp and Spunky were there until we all left together.
I’m truly lucky to have such great friend.

Round 4 of the NEOC

Friday on the way home from work the parkway gets backed up. So being the KLR dude that I am there is no way I'm sitting in traffic. Ya know I'm not even going to bla bla bla about this. I picture is worth a thousand words
Do I need to say anything else.
Sunday ow yes my favorite play day was a race day. I got a great start and was in third after a little bouncing around in the first couple turns. Again I'm not saying nothing else just look at the video with the helmet camera HERE. I managed to get back up and roll to a 23rd finish. Hey it was fun. The rest of the boys did great here's the  race data you can see all the pictures from the race here.
